Overview

You can register a new domain name directly from your ALYPOD account and manage it alongside your Pods. This article walks through searching for an available name, registering it and completing the required contact details.

Before you begin

  • An ALYPOD account (sign in at account.alypod.com).
  • A valid email address you can access, used for the domain's registrant contact.
  • A payment method on file.

Steps

  1. Log in to account.alypod.com and open the Domains section, then choose Register a new domain.
  2. Enter the name you want and check availability. If it is taken, try a different extension (TLD such as .com, .net, .mn).
  3. Select the domain and choose the registration period (usually one year or more).
  4. Complete the registrant contact details:
  • Registrant: the legal owner of the domain.
  • Admin / Tech / Billing contacts: usually the same as the registrant for personal use.
  • Country and address: required by the registry. Registries may verify these.
  1. Choose your nameservers. You can use ALYPOD's default nameservers (to manage DNS here) or supply your own.
  2. Add the domain to your cart and complete checkout.
  3. After payment, the domain appears under Domains in your account. Registration is usually active within minutes.

Identity verification

Some registries and TLDs require email verification of the registrant contact before the domain becomes fully active. Watch for a verification email and click the link promptly; unverified contacts can lead to suspension.

After registration

  • Enable WHOIS privacy if you do not want your personal details published.
  • Add the DNS records your Pod needs (A/AAAA for a website, MX for mail).
  • Make sure auto-renew is enabled so you do not lose the name.

Troubleshooting

  • Problem: Payment succeeded but no verification email. Solution: Check spam and the registrant address; you can resend verification from the domain's page.
  • Problem: Domain shows as pending. Solution: New registrations can take a short while to appear in the registry; try again in a few minutes.
