Overview

Domain transfers move a domain's registration from another registrar to ALYPOD while keeping the name and its DNS records working. This article covers what to prepare and how to start the transfer.

Before you begin

• The domain must be at least 60 days old (registrar lock period since registration or last transfer).
• The domain must be unlocked at your current registrar.
• You need the EPP / authorisation code from the current registrar.
• A verified registrant email address — the transfer is approved by email.
• The domain should not expire during the transfer; renew it first if it is close.

Steps

1. Log in at your current registrar and unlock the domain, then copy its EPP/authorisation code.
2. Disable WHOIS privacy temporarily if your current registrar hides the registrant email, otherwise you may not receive the approval message.
3. In account.alypod.com, open Domains and choose Transfer a domain to ALYPOD.
4. Enter the domain name and the EPP code, then select the transfer period (most transfers add a year).
5. Complete checkout and wait for the approval email sent to the registrant address. Approve it promptly.
6. Monitor the domain's status under Domains. Transfers typically complete within 5–7 days if unopposed.

During the transfer

Your existing website and email keep working because the nameservers do not change automatically during a transfer. If you also want ALYPOD to manage DNS, update the nameservers separately after the transfer completes.

Troubleshooting

• Problem: Transfer rejected as locked. Solution: Unlock the domain at the current registrar and start again.
• Problem: No approval email. Solution: Turn off WHOIS privacy and confirm the registrant email is correct, then ask the current registrar to resend.
• Problem: Transfer failed near expiry. Solution: Renew at the current registrar first, then retry; an expired domain often cannot be transferred.
