Overview

The ALYPOD web console gives you out-of-band access to your Pod's screen and keyboard through the browser. It works even when SSH is unreachable, making it the go-to tool when a server will not boot or your network configuration is broken. This article explains when and how to use it.

When to use the web console

  • The Pod will not boot and you need to see the error.
  • SSH is refused because of firewall or configuration mistakes.
  • Windows Pods where RDP is unavailable.
  • Editing boot parameters or the GRUB menu.
  • Watching a rescue-mode or reinstall process.

Steps

  1. Sign in to account.alypod.com and open the ALYPOD Console.
  2. Select your Pod.
  3. Open the Console (also called VNC) tab.
  4. A new window opens showing the Pod's screen. Click inside to capture keyboard and mouse input.
  5. To send special keys, use the console toolbar:
  • Ctrl+Alt+Del — reboot trick / Windows security screen.
  • Ctrl+Alt+F1..F6 — switch Linux virtual terminals.
  • Paste — send text to the guest (useful for long commands).
  1. Log in with your root/administrator credentials.

Practical uses

  • Fix a firewall lockout:

```bash
From the console
sudo ufw allow 22/tcp sudo systemctl restart ssh ```
  • Check boot logs when the Pod hangs:
bash journalctl -b -p err
  • Start a stuck service:
bash sudo systemctl start nginx
Tips
  • The VNC session is a remote screen, not a shell — copy/paste can be slow, so type short commands.
  • Keep the window open when running long repairs to avoid feeling disconnected.
  • Treat console access like physical access: never leave a root session unlocked.
Troubleshooting
  • Problem: console is black. Solution: press a key to wake the screen, then check the power state in the console; start the Pod if it is stopped.
  • Problem: keyboard input not registering. Solution: click inside the VNC area first to focus it.
  • Problem: session keeps dropping. Solution: check your own network; the VNC proxy needs a stable connection.
